When we first meet Meredith she is a lonely eighth grade girl. She has no friends and keeps to herself. As the only rich girl in her school, its hard to make friends. The gap between the other students and her stands out, like an elephant in a small room. While they walk or take the bus Meredith gets driven to school by a chauffeur and to make matters worse the car is a Rolls Royce. We may not think this is a bad thing but for a thirteen year old trying to make friends this is a catastrophe. At the beginning of the book she is very innocent, who trust the people close to her. She is a type of person who cares deeply for others. If I was making the movie Paradise I would choose Joey King as Meredith when she was in grade school, for she is the picture of innocent with youth.
After dealing with a horrible incident all alone with no one who really knows what she is feeling. Meredith goes into a state of depression where she doesn't want to see or believe anything that friends and family say. Time goes by and the pain fades to numbness. The days start going by and she slowly starts to bring her life back together, and now she is helping her father run Bancroft & Company. . She is no longer innocent, and is less trusting of others. Despite that she still try's to help everyone around her. When Meredith comes into contact with Mathew Farrell again she treats him with a cold shoulder and shuns him, but later they comes to terms with each other. The one person that she can no longer forgive is her father Philip Bancroft. Kaley Couco, would be picked for she ideal older Meredith Bancroft for she is exactly the vision I picture when reading.
Lisa Pontini becomes Merediths best friend in the eight grade when her family enrolled her at St. Stephan's private Catholic School run by the Benedictine nuns. She is taller, brighter and knows more about kissing then Meredith. Where Meridith is unsure about things, Lisa is the opposite a sure go get them type of girl. She has to be growing up in a house filled with brothers and sister. The reason why I would choose Madison Pettis is because she would make a great younger Lisa.
Meridith's one true friend through everything has always been Lisa. Lisa was there when she had to go to the upper class ball. She was the one who helped turn around a disaster waiting to happen and turn it into a nice evening for a girl who doesn't have many friends. She has been there though her horrible incident all the way to the recovery. She never once gave up on her friend she has been the one stable foundation for Meredith outside of her fathers reign. She was there to help her realize that you don't always have to fallow what everyone wants you to be some times you have to just step back and be yourself. The actress that I would choose to play the older Lisa would be Sydney Tamiia Ponitier because she is a fun actor and she is who I picture as the older Lisa.
Matt Ferrell is a hard working boy who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. He will do almost anything for his family, even work away in Venezuela. When he is told of the incident he doesn't know what to believe. Writing letters like crazy to find out any information he can about what happened. He is going out of his mind with worry. He is barred from seeing Meredith. 11 years go by before he gets to see her and prove his worth and he gets a public shun from her. The reason why I chose Alex O'Loughlin is because he has that look of a tough bad boy.
Parker Reynolds is the childhood crush of Meredith. He is always being compared to as the younger version of "Robert Redford". He is from a rich banking family and has grown up with money all his life. His family is one of the upper class elite of Chicago. He ends up being very close to Meredith and is also a person that helps her to get over the horrible incident. The actor that I would choose to play as Parker Reynolds is Owen Wilson because he is a good looking actor who is good at adapting to any role and he is also one of my favorite actors.
Philip Bancroft is the tough overbearing father of Meredith, he rules his household with and iron fist. He treats Meredith the same way. She knows he loves her but she has a hard time following everything that he does. She can't ware her hair up, choose her own clothing or even her own friends without having her fathers approval. He is a no nonsense kind of guy. He is behind the happiness and even the lack of happiness for his daughter Meredith. The reason why I chose Jon Voight is because he plays a good bad guy, and always has an air a bought him of the upper class.
I love the characters you have chosen to represent your main characters. Putting a face to characters in a novel always helps me picture the whole story in my head. I am looking forward to reading more on your book Paradise, and the struggles that your character Meredith must overcome. Now that I know a small amount about your characters I think you should expand on them into more detail and more detail about your novels settings and background!
